The Aces' Repertoire
The Aces sing - and play, sometimes simultaneously! - and often with considerable gusto, feeling and indeed, aplomb, a wide variety of songs, from hugely enjoyable traditional Irish melodies, ballads and frantic canterings, to the sort of good-time, feel-good, sing-along stuff that inebriates and ne'er-do-wells have always tended to drift towards as the evening goes on. And as for the audience...
All together, now...
So fare thee well my own true love
For when I return united we will be
It’s not the leaving of Liverpool that grieves me
But my darling when I think of thee
Amarillo
Is this the way to Amarillo
Every night I’ve been hugging my pillow
Dreaming dreams of Amarillo
And sweet Marie who waits for me
Show me the way to Amarillo
I’ve been weeping like a willow
Crying over Amarillo
And sweet Marie who waits for me
Sha-la-la la-la la-la-la, sha-la-la la-la la-la-la
Sha-la-la la-la la-la-la, and Marie who waits for me
